Not sure which board size is right for you?
It depends on many factors - rocker, length, width and flex.
As an average you can say for a person with 75-80 KG 139cm (+/- 2cm) fits quite well! If the kitesurfer is smaller and lighter, you can go further down and higher with more weight. A factor is also the rocker.
If the board has a lot of rocker, it glides late and runs worse height. Then you should rather choose about 2cm larger to make up for these points.
The rocker makes the board a bit livelier, turns more easily and cushions the jump better on landings. This is just for freestyle more pleasant and relieves the knees.
Lightwindboards are long and wide (e.g. 151 * 43cm)! You need as much surface as possible to glide early. Rocker is also a disadvantage here, because the wetted surface of the kiteboard is reduced. If the wind picks up, light riders quickly reach their limits, as the surface area becomes too large and you no longer have enough power to push the rear edge of the kiteboard into the water. Thus, although there is enough wind, you lose a lot of height and power.
Directionals / Waveboards are different from TwinTips and remind more of a wave rider while surfing. Here it is about playing with the waves. The Directionals specialize in riding off, turns and jumps. These boards are NOT suitable for beginners!
